Les Français "filent à l'anglaise",
les Allemands et les Anglais s'évaporent "à
la française". Typiquement‚ français'
également: le lit ("französisches
Bett"), le baiser ("french kiss"),
la syphilis ("petite française" ou
"french disease"), le condome ("Pariser"
... en français "capotte anglaise"!).
Les Français aiment beaucoup, eux aussi, prendre
leurs voisins comme "têtes de Turcs":
ils parlent alors de "querelles d'Allemands",
de "supplice chinois" ou "d' auberge
espagnole" ... ohne dass es ihnen dabei spanisch
vorkommt! Mais au fait, comment traduire en français
cette tournure bien allemande?

Bruxelles, c'est beaucoup plus que le siège
de l'OTAN et du Conseil de l'Europe, beaucoup plus
aussi que la ville natale du Manneken-Pis, ce petit
effronté en bronze qui fait pipi dans une fontaine.
Laissez-vous guider par une véritable Bruxelloise
à travers les quartiers des antiquaires et
des brocanteurs, des pâtisseries et cafés
art déco, des estaminets et petits restaurants
où vous pourrez déguster une "mort
subite" ou une "delirium tremens" pour
accompagner une portion de "moules et frites"
ou un "waterzooi". La capitale de la Belgique
vaut vraiment le détour. Prêtez-lui au
moins l'oreille!

Fadumo Korn, die uns das Somalische kurz vorstellt,
kommt aus Somalia. Das ostafrikanische Land grenzt
an den Golf von Aden und an den Indischen Ozean und
ist so groß wie Frankreich und die Benelux-Staaten
zusammen. Kein Ort für Touristen. Denn infolge
politischer Unruhen ist auch das Schulwesen dort zerrüttet.
Drei Viertel der Bevölkerung sind Analphabeten.
1972 konnte aber eine verbindliche Schrift mit lateinischen
Buchstaben eingeführt werden, was den Anschluss
an die Weltöffentlichkeit leichter zu machen
versprach.

the support of the rank and file of whatever party
you are in. These are the loyal, ordinary members
of a party. Americans have always liked an element
of show business to keep politics from becoming boring.
In recent years, there has been a similar trend in
Europe. A joke, a song or a talk show might just keep
supporters smiling.
